We are looking for new

Management Committee Members

Are you interested in being involved?

Background

Depot Art Co (Charity No SCO34257) is a community arts project providing creative workshops predominately for young people aged 5-25yrs. We are also currently developing new work with young parents and families.  We work to increase the opportunities for young people to engage in cultural and creative activities as a means of enhancing their own life chances and transferable skills.

Organisation and Management

Depot Arts is run by a management committee who line manage a  Project Manager who in turns support a F/T Young volunteer co-ordinator and a pool of sessional and freelance staff.

We are looking to recruit new committee members to bring our committee up to 10 people including young people who attend our workshops.

What does the Management Committee do?

The Management Committee are responsible for:

  • Formulating, monitoring and reviewing the organisation's financial and strategic plan;
  • Ensuring that appropriate financial and accountancy controls are in place;
  • Agreeing and reviewing budgets;
  • Ensuring that the appropriate legal or professional advice is sought;
  • Giving the organisation direction and purpose;
  • Giving direction and support to the Manager

What would my role be?

  • To agree, monitor and review our strategic aims, practices and policies;
  • To actively participate in the decision making of the organisation;
  • To share a common purpose and enthusiasm for the work of Depot Arts
  • To provide a pool of expertise that staff can call upon;
  • To perform an advocacy and ambassadorial role for the organisation;
  • To promote the objectives of Depot Arts Co
  • To prepare thoroughly for meetings; and
  • To be aware that your duty is first and foremost to help the organisation to deliver its objectives effectively.

What do you want?

We are looking for people who have an enthusiasm for work with young people. No experience of working in the arts field is required however a commitment to carrying out the duties of a committee member is essential.

What experience does a Board Member need?

We are seeking to attract people with a range of experience on to the management committee. Some people will make a contribution from their professional knowledge, e.g. legal background, management experience, accounting, etc. but we also need the experience of people who have a genuine interest in promoting services for young people and their inclusion in arts activities.

Is there be training available?

Were appropriate training will be offered to committee members. We also aim to have a development session each year for all committee members and staff.

How much time will it take?

The management committee meets on average once every 4 weeks in St.mathews Centre in Possilpark. There are also opportunities to sit on ad-hoc advisory groups that are set up from time to time.

How long is the appointment for?

Committee members are voted on annually however we welcome a commitment of a minimum of 2 years to ensure integration into the project.

How much will it cost?

Committee Members do not receive remuneration. However, we can provide for all out-of-pocket expenses for travel.

If I am interested, what is the next step?
